Retired Air Force Colonel Richard G. “Duke” Woodhull, Jr., will discuss his military career during the Cold War years on Tuesday, May 2 at 6:30 pm. Woodhull is a long time Transylvania County resident and author of the book, Flying High…Memoir of a 30-Year Adventure. The presentation will include Woodhulls first-hand account of the Cuban Missile Crisis as a jet tanker pilot, his service as pilot of the high altitude strategic reconnaissance U-2 aircraft, and subsequent diplomatic and intelligence-gathering assignments. Finally, the presentation will include some personal observations about service in the armed forces.
