Join us for a tour of the Brevard Fire Department led by Fire Chief Bobby Cooper and Captain Adam Hughey. Get all your burning questions answered! We’ll learn about the history of the fire department, the ins and outs of staffing this important emergency service, and what a typical shift looks like for our local fire fighters. If we’re lucky, we’ll get to check out some specialized equipment and admire the shiny interior of a fire truck.
Who is leading the tour? Chief Cooper has been with Brevard Fire Department since 2008 and has been the Chief since 2018. He is the first full-time Chief for Brevard Fire Department since its inception in 1898. He has over 32 years of experience in local emergency services including past Director of Transylvania County EMS (currently a part-time Paramedic) and current volunteer Deputy Chief of Lake Toxaway Fire Rescue. He has a Bachelor of Science in Management from Clemson University, and a Master of Public Affairs from Western Carolina University.
