Program Description:
Join Gorges Park Ranger Skyler Hill to reflect on the past of the Jocassee Gorges, catch up on what is happening now, and learn about plans for the future.
Bio:
Skyler Hill is a Park Ranger at Gorges State Park. He graduated from Montreat College with a major in Environmental Studies and minor in Outdoor Recreation in 2005. He started his career in Indiana State Parks, spending 7.5 years working as a full-time employee for Lieber State Recreation Area and Prophetstown State Park. Skyler and his wife Becca moved to North Carolina in 2014, and he worked for 5 years as Park Ranger at the highest point east of the Mississippi River, Mt. Mitchell State Park. In the spring of 2019 Skyler, Becca, and their daughter Maya moved to Brevard to continue his career in North Carolina State Parks working at the “Crown Jewel” of North Carolina, Gorges State Park.
All Things Appalachia is a monthly program series at the Transylvania County Library exploring the people, natural world, culture, and history of the southern Appalachian region. Presenters include experts in the fields of history, ecology, outdoor recreation, and more. The programs are on the first Thursday evening of most months at 6:30 pm in the Rogow Room. Each program lasts approximately one hour. These free programs are supported by the Friends of the Library
