New Program or Service Collaboration

The Transylvania County Library provides programs and services that align with our strategic goals and community interests. We welcome proposals for collaborations.  For consideration,  submit the form by the deadlines outlined below.  The programming team will respond as soon as possible.

If you have ideas or general program suggestions that you want us to know about, but are not looking to help implement, please use the Program Suggestion Form instead.

Collaborations should directly relate to the Library’s mission of learning, gathering, growing – together by fitting at least one, but preferably multiple Library goals:

  •  learn
    • Create opportunities so that every child is ready to read and succeed
    • Encourage and nurture exploration, reading and learning throughout life
  • connect
    • Provide opportunities for Transylvanians to engage with each other in meaningful ways
    • Collaborate to enhance community well-being and civic life
  • belong
    • Extend library programs and services to all of Transylvania County
    • Create friendly, accessible and inclusive spaces and services
Our best collaborations occur when both the library and our partner are bringing ideas and resources together for a stronger outcome than either could accomplish independently.

Deadlines

Proposed Program Dates                                 Proposal Submission Deadline

Winter (January 1 – March 25)                                    July 10

Spring (March 26 – May 31)                                          September 10

Summer (June 1 – August 31)                                     December 10

Fall (September 1 – December 31)                            March 10

Planning for library programs begins six to nine months before a program occurs. Not every proposal we receive can translate into a program/service, but we will retain the information for future reference.

Library programs are not an opportunity to promote a business, product, or service.

Our considerations include:

  • Does a similar program or service already exist in the community? How is this different?
  • Who else in the community could help implement this, and how?
  • Is a beta test needed? What is the ideal timeframe?
  • What does it cost, both to start and to maintain? What is the funding source?
  • How many community members will be served?
  • Is it a true collaboration? Are we all contributing to a shared goal?
