Summer Reading Program registration for all ages begins on Monday, June 9, 2025. This year’s theme is “Color Our World”. Read all through the summer to earn great prizes! We have four free programs to choose from: Early Literacy (birth-2 years), Kids (3 years – 5th grade), and Teens (grades 6-12) and Adults.

The programs will conclude on Saturday, August 9, 2025. This is the last day to get Youth prizes and the last day to submit Adult entries. Grand Prize drawings for all age groups will take place on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Adult Program – How It Works

• Adult participants can call, come by the Circulation Desk or go online to register.
• Read or listen to 5 books during the summer reading dates and complete an entry card by phone, in person or online for a chance to win.
• Weekly and grand prizes include gift certificates to Second Story Book Store and local eateries, as well as other surprises.
• Adult readers can complete as many entry cards as they wish over the summer and submit them by Saturday, August 9.

Youth Programs – How It Works

• Come to the library (or bookmobile) to pick up a reading/literacy log on or after June 9.
• Every day complete 20 minutes of reading (or for babies, one early literacy activity) and mark off one circle on the log.
• Bring your log back to the library (or bookmobile) and collect your prizes. All finishers have the option of adding their name to our finisher wall.

Early Literacy Program (children ages birth to 2 years and their caregivers)

Research shows that talking, singing, reading, writing, counting, and playing with your young child jump-starts your child’s communication and pre-reading skills. Complete fun activities from the log like dancing, walk & talks, and pretend play to earn prizes.

• Receive bubbles when picking up your early literacy log
• Complete 10 days of activities to receive a free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing
• Complete 20 days of activities to receive another free book and entry into a grand prize drawing

The grand prize drawing will be for a Melissa & Doug Wooden Shape-Sorting Grocery Cart.

Kids Summer Reading Program (3 years to 5th grade)

Have fun reading this summer and earn prizes along the way! Pre-readers can count time that someone reads to them for at least 20 minutes each day.

• Complete 20 days of reading to receive a bookmark, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing
• Complete 40 days of reading to receive a tie-dye bracelet, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing

The grand prize drawings will be for a 3Doodler Start+ 3D Pen Set, an arts & crafts bundle: National Geographic Mega Arts and Crafts Kit & Glow in the Dark Stained Glass Solar System Kit, MAGNA-TILES Space Set, and two $50 OP Taylor gift cards.

Teen Summer Reading Program (grades 6 to 12)

Have fun reading this summer and earn prizes along the way!

• Complete 20 days of reading to receive a bookmark, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing
• Complete 40 days of reading to receive a paintbrush pen, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing

There will be two grand prize drawings for a $50 VISA gift card.
