Noontime Notions – The Hesitant Hiker
October 25, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Don’t let the risk of getting lost or bears, blisters, snakes and storms prevent you from enjoying yourself on a hike. With the guidance of Nancy East, author and western North Carolina search and rescue team member, empower yourself with the knowledge and skills to stay “safe and found” and enjoy your time on trail without hesitation.
Nancy East retired from a 23-year career as a small animal veterinarian to pursue her interest in outdoor education, writing, and guiding. She is an avid hiker and backpacker as well as a Southern Appalachian Naturalist. Her involvement on Haywood County’s Rescue team is one of her greatest passions and inspired her book, Chasing the Smokies Moon: An audacious 948-mile hike – fueled by love, loss, laughter, and lunacy. She lives in Waynesville with her husband, three children, and beloved rescue dog.
Noontime Notions programs are held one Tuesday each month at noon and will feature authors, performers, and presenters providing engaging notions for consideration, enjoyment, and discovery. The program begins at 12 noon in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library and is made possible by the Friends of the Library. Won’t You Be A Friend?
