Sponsored by NC Cooperative Extension and the Transylvania County Library, Living in the Mountains is a five-part educational series exploring the unique challenges and opportunities of living in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Part Two: Erosion Control
Sooner or later, gravity catches up to everything, and that could include your soil if you’re not careful! Here in Transylvania County, soil is a major contaminant in our local rivers and streams, and there is something you can do about it! In this presentation we’ll talk about strategies to prevent soil erosion through landscaping, hardscaping, terracing and other ideas. Presented by Bart Renner, N.C. Cooperative Extension Horticulture Extension Agent.
We hope you’ll join us for the remainder of the series:
- Part 3: Radon Awareness • January 28 at 12:00 pm
- Part 4: Building a Home Emergency Kit • February 4 at 12:00 pm
- Part 5: Gardening and Growing Food in Mountain Soil • February 11 at 12:00 pm
These events will take place in the Library’s Rogow Room. An extension agent will be available afterwards to answer any additional questions.
