Fermentation Part Two: Shrubs & Switchels

May 14 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for this free, three-part series as we learn the basics of fermentation and the science behind it. Led by Erin Massey, NC Cooperative Extension’s Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, each session will combine expert instruction with practical experience so you can create healthy and delicious fermented foods at home!  Space is limited, and registration is required.  Attend one session, or all of them! Registration for this popular series is unfortunately FULL.

In Part Two of the series, we’ll learn to make shrubs and switchels, refreshing beverages perfect for hydration and gut health.

Shrub: a non-alcoholic “drinking vinegar” made from water, fruit, sugar, and vinegar.

Switchel: a non-alcoholic “drinking vinegar” made from water, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and honey. Also known as “Haymaker’s Punch”.
