Second Story Book Store hoursSummer Reading Program registration for youth begins on June 7th and ends August 22nd. Come to the Library to pick up your reading log and begin reading all through the summer to earn great prizes! We have three youth programs to choose from: Babies (birth-2 years), Kids (3-11), and Teens (12-18).

Research shows that talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing with your young child jump-starts your child’s communication and pre-reading skills.
Literacy Activities
Do fun activities from the back of the literacy log like scribbling, dancing, walk & talks, and pretend play to earn prizes.
Earn Prizes for reading & completing literacy activities with your child
5 activities + 5 days of reading = crayons
10 activities + 10 days of reading= rubber ducky
15 activities + 15 days of reading= set of maracas
20 activities + 20 days of reading= brand new board book
Kids who engage in reading over the summer are more likely to retain their academic skills and avoid the “summer slide.” Pre-readers can count time that someone reads to them for at least 20 minutes each day.
You’ll earn a prize for every 7 days of reading:
First 7 Days of reading: bookmark & temporary tattoo or sticker
14 Days of reading: pencil
21 Days of reading: book bag
28 Days of reading: We take your photo and put it on your “star” on a display board at the Library
35 Days of reading: Choose a brand new paperback book to keep
42 Days of reading: Choose a 2nd brand new paperback book to keep
49 Days of reading: We print your name in an Honorary Library Book!
