Safety First! Emergency Preparedness

May 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Safety First! is a three-part educational series exploring ways to keep you and your family safe.

Part One: Emergency Preparedness with Transylvania Public Health

The first session in our “Safety First” series is about preparing for emergencies.  Cheyanne Gilbert, Preparedness Coordinator with Transylvania Public Health, will help us to map out our “roadmap to ready” by discussing developing an emergency communication plan, building an emergency kit, and ways to stay informed during different kinds of emergencies.

Cheyanne Gilbert has worked in the emergency services field in Transylvania County for a number of years, eight of them at the 911 center and working with the health department during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Through strategic planning, training, and collaboration with local agencies, she strives to develop and implement effective preparedness initiatives.  She is committed to promoting resilience and readiness among local residents and takes great pride in supporting the mission of the county’s health department to protect and enhance the health of our community.

We hope you’ll join us for the remainder of the series:

  • Part 2: Staying Safe Online with the NC Department of Justice  •  May 22 at 12:00 pm
  • Part 3: Fraud Prevention with Self-Help Credit Union  •  May 29 at 12:00 pm

These events will take place in the Library’s Rogow Room.
