Event Series: Noontime Notions

Noontime Notions – The Wild East – Science in the Great Smoky Mountains

August 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The Noontime Notions series continues.  The program will begin at noon in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library. Noontime Notions programs feature authors, performers, and presenters providing engaging notions for consideration, enjoyment, and discovery.   The program is made possible by the Friends of the Library and will last approximately one hour.

August will feature Dr. Margaret Brown discussing the importance of science in the history and development of the Smoky Mountain National Park.  She has recently updated and revised her book, The Wild East: A Biography of the Great Smoky Mountains which includes a new chapter on the environmental history of the Great Smoky Mountains and spotlights the important regional role the park has played in education and protecting the environment.

For September, Tony Ward from MountainTrue will discuss Native Plant Landscaping.

In October, Page Lemel will discuss the rich history of summer camps in Transylvania County.

November will showcase Just For Laughs with Ron Schon as he presents fun men and women from history.
