The Transylvania County Library and Looking Glass Playhouse invite the community to enjoy holiday hilarity with performances of A Tuna Christmas by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard. Shows will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, and Wednesday, December 10, in the Library’s Rogow Room. The production will run approximately 90 minutes each evening.
Directed by Claudia Carter Covington, A Tuna Christmas continues the comic adventures set in the fictional small town of Tuna, Texas — the “third smallest town in Texas.” During the course of the play, many colorful personalities help celebrate the Yuletide season, including radio hosts Arles and Thurston, the beleaguered Bumiller family, grasping Vera Carp, PD Fisk, DD Snavely, and Aunt Pearl. They’re joined by even more eccentric townsfolk as the community gears up for a fiercely contested Christmas yard display competition, an ill-fated holiday play, and the usual round of small-town mischief and mayhem.
This festive show blends Southern humor with quick-change comedy, as actors Sally Burnett, Amy Shute, Mark Thompson, and Sandi Thompson bring this eccentric collection of Tuna residents to life.
