Alexander’s belief in the power of poetry and literature to inspire, engage, and empower young people is the guiding force behind the #AllBooksForAllKids initiative he created in partnership with Follett. Alexander is the founding editor of Versify, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers whose mission is to Change the World One Word at a Time. He’s led cultural exchange delegations to Brazil, Italy, Singapore, and Ghana, where he built the Barbara E. Alexander Memorial Library and Health Clinic as a part of LEAP for Ghana, an international literacy program he co-founded. More at https://kwamealexander.com/.

Alexander will appear at the Transylvania County Library on Monday, April 29, 2019. Guest musician Randy Preston will accompany him to perform original music inspired by Alexander’s books. The program will begin at 4:00 pm and doors to the Rogow Community Room will open at 3:30 pm. Seating is limited and first come, first served.

This FREE event is made possible by the Transylvania County Library Foundation. Highland Books will be on hand with books for sale and signing following the program.
