SUMMARY:Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Join us for yoga at the Library!\nClass starts at 9:30 am\, and instructor Clare Desmelik leads the series. Class will take place in the library amphitheater April through November.  We’ll move inside to the Rogow Room during the colder months from December – March. There are no rain dates\, but the porch might be an alternate location for gentle rain.  Yoga is an ancient practice that uses a series of seated and standing body poses held with a focus on the breath and the inner experience.  Yoga is a great mood booster and increases flexibility of mind and body. Everyone is welcome!  This class is free and open to all ages and experiences levels.  Pop in for a single class or attend them all. \nBring a yoga mat or towel and water\, and be sure to dress in layers!\nClare Desmelik has been practicing yoga since the early 2000’s and believes it to be a saving grace. She trusts in the power of taking a deep breath\, as well as taking some ‘time in’ to notice and find awareness in the body.  She feels that anyone’s emotional\, physical\, or mental health will benefit from a gentle yoga practice.  It helps reclaim your sense of calm and quiets the mind; it helps you find freedom and courage in your heart; and it allows you to feel strength and poise in your capable body. She has been enjoying teaching yoga in the Brevard and Asheville area since 2016.  She brings an approachable and revitalizing ‘go with the flow’ vibe to her classes\, which are suitable for any and all!   Clare is also the Spanish and Yoga teacher at Mountain Sun Community School\, a full-time advocate for childhood cancer and pediatric brain tumor awareness\, a grateful mom of two awesome boys\, and is often seen with her golden retrievers. She is authentically convinced that ‘Love Heals’ and yoga is all about love.

SUMMARY:Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Join us for yoga at the Library!\nClass starts at 9:30 am\, and instructor Clare Desmelik leads the series. Class will take place in the library amphitheater April through November.  We’ll move inside to the Rogow Room during the colder months starting October 24th – March.

SUMMARY:Noontime Notions - The History of Summer Camps in Transylvania County
DESCRIPTION:The Noontime Notions series continues.  The program will begin at noon in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library. Noontime Notions programs feature authors\, performers\, and presenters providing engaging notions for consideration\, enjoyment\, and discovery.   The program is made possible by the Friends of the Library and will last approximately one hour. \nTransylvania County has one of the highest concentrations of summer camps in the entire nation. Our mountains\, forests\, and rivers are ideal for introducing children of all ages to the great outdoors\, fostering their sense of independence\, and providing transformative experiences for campers. Page Lemel\, whose family has owned Keystone Camp for generations\, will offer an overview of the camps in Transylvania County and provide insights into the fascinating history of camps and the camp experience from the early 1900s to the present. \nPage Lemel is a graduate of Duke University and began leading camp in 1984. Her father\, Bill Ives\, ran Keystone Camp from 1961 until 1984. Page grew up at Keystone and spent her summers as a camper\, counselor\, and Head Counselor before taking over the director’s position. She is an avid gardener\, and can often be found tending to the landscape around camp. She also serves on various community boards in Brevard and Transylvania County. \n

There are no rain dates\, but the porch might be an alternate location for gentle rain.  Yoga is an ancient practice that uses a series of seated and standing body poses held with a focus on the breath and the inner experience.  Yoga is a great mood booster and increases flexibility of mind and body.
