Getting a Library Card

Getting a library card is quick and easy.

Library cards are available free of charge for Transylvania County residents and property owners. They are also available free of charge to anyone who works or goes to school in Transylvania County. If you do not qualify for a free card, you may purchase a non-resident card for an annual fee.

To get your library card, visit the Transylvania County Library in-person and bring:

    • A valid official photo identification (driver’s license, school identification card, passport, etc.)
    • Two forms of address verification, if not included on the photo identification (bank statement, utility bill, tax notice, etc)
    • Proof of eligibility, if you are a non-resident who works, attends school, or owns property in the county
    • A parent or guardian, if you are under the age of 12

If you are in a transitional period (for example, if you just moved here) and you do not have a current ID or proof of address, bring what you do have and we will help you explore your options.

The replacement fee for a lost card is $2.
