SUMMARY:Summer Reading Program Begins for All Ages
DESCRIPTION:Summer Reading Program registration for all ages begins on Monday\, June 10\, 2024. This year’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library”. Read all through the summer to earn great prizes! We have four free programs to choose from: Infants & Toddlers (birth-2 years)\, Kids (3 years – 5th grade)\, and Teens (grades 6-12)\, and Adults. \nThe programs will conclude on Saturday\, August 10\, 2024. This is the last day to get Youth prizes and the last day to submit Adult entries. Grand Prize drawings for all age groups will take place on Monday\, August 12\, 2024. \nAdult Program – How It Works\n\nAdult participants can call\, come by the Circulation Desk or go online to register.\nRead or listen to 5 books during the summer reading dates and complete an entry card by phone\, in person or online for a chance to win.\nWeekly and grand prizes include gift certificates to Second Story Book Store and local eateries\, as well as other surprises.\nAdult readers can complete as many entry cards as they wish over the summer and submit them by Saturday\, August 10.\nFull details are available at registration.\nAdults Click the following links to Register or to Submit an Entry for every 5 books read between June 10 and August 10.\n\n\nYouth Programs – How It Works\n\nCome to the library (or bookmobile) to pick up a reading/literacy log on or after June 10.\nEvery day complete 20 minutes of reading (or for babies\, one early literacy activity) and mark off one circle on the log.\nBring your log back to the library (or bookmobile) and collect your prizes. All finishers have the option of adding their name to our finisher wall.\n\nEarly Literacy Program For Children Ages Birth to 2 years and their Caregivers\nResearch shows that talking\, singing\, reading\, writing\, counting\, and playing with your young child jump-starts your child’s communication and pre-reading skills. Complete fun activities from the log like dancing\, walk & talks\, and pretend play to earn prizes. \n\nReceive bubbles when picking up your early literacy log\nComplete 10 days of activities to receive a free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing\nComplete 20 days of activities to receive another free book and entry into a grand prize drawing\n\nThe grand prize drawing will be for a Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Crawl Around Car. \nKids Summer Reading Program (3 years to 5th grade)\nHave fun reading this summer and earn prizes along the way! Pre-readers can count time that someone reads to them for at least 20 minutes each day. \n\nComplete 20 days of reading to receive a bookmark\, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing\nComplete 40 days of reading to receive a sticker\, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing\n\nThe grand prize drawings will be for a LEGO® bundle: City Off-Roader Adventures & Friends Stargazing Camping Vehicle\, Tiny Land Creative Forts building set\, a digging bundle: National Geographic Mega Fossil Dig Kit & Mega Gemstone Dig Kit\, and two $50 OP Taylor gift cards. \nTeen Summer Reading Program (grades 6 to 12)\nHave fun reading this summer and earn prizes along the way! \n\nComplete 20 days of reading to receive a bookmark\, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing\nComplete 40 days of reading to receive a stress ball\, free book and an entry into a grand prize drawing\n\nThere will be two grand prize drawings for a $50 VISA gift card.
