One Giant Leap: North Carolina & the Space Race

August 15, 2019 @ 10:30 pm - 11:45 pm

North Carolina is celebrating its role in man’s journey to landing on the Moon through a variety of exhibits and events in a yearlong celebration.  On Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 pm Jessica Bandel will share stories about the people, places, chimps, and things that helped make America’s historic leap to the Moon in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library.
Bandel is the Digital Editor with the Historical Research Office for the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.  She is taking a digital version of the North Carolina Museum of History’s 2019 exhibit, “One Giant Leap: North Carolina and the Space Race” exhibit on the road to share with those who cannot visit Raleigh.  The presentation examines North Carolina’s role in the space exploration of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. The Raleigh exhibit is open at the NC Museum of History through January 5, 2020.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
