DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by NC Cooperative Extension and the Transylvania County Library\, Living in the Mountains is a five-part educational series exploring the unique challenges and opportunities of living in the mountains of Western North Carolina. \nPart One: Understanding Wells & Septic Systems\nTransylvania County Environmental Health will deliver a presentation on septic tank systems and drinking water wells including a quick guide to help folks understand their basic functions and maintenance requirements. This information may be especially important to those who have been served by a municipal sewer system and/or public water system in the past. Bring your questions and we’ll sort through the myths and urban legends to provide you with the most up-to-date information on file. \nWe hope you’ll join us for the remainder of the series: \n\nPart 2: Erosion Control  •  January 21 at 12:00 pm\nPart 3: Radon Awareness  •  January 28 at 12:00 pm\nPart 4: Building a Home Emergency Kit  •  February 4 at 12:00 pm\nPart 5: Gardening and Growing Food in Mountain Soil  •  February 11 at 12:00 pm\n\nThese events will take place in the Library’s Rogow Room.
