SUMMARY:Artistic Afternoons in April
DESCRIPTION:The Transylvania County Library is offering an exploration of art for youth during the month of April. The programs are free\, but registration is required for each program. Call us at 884-3151 ext. 3 or stop by the Youth Services desk to sign up NOW as space is limited!\nTuesday April 2\, 2019 – 4pm-5pm – Ukulele Exploration with Laura Gardner (Grades 3-8) \nLearn the basics of how to play the ukulele in this beginner class. We’ll learn how to tune\, read a chord chart\, strum\, and play a few tunes. No experience necessary. Participants will be paired up to learn on one of our ukuleles. If you have your own that you will bring\, please let us know. \nTuesday April 9\, 2019 – 4pm-5pm – Introduction to Cross Stitch with Donna Hoover (Grades 3-8) \nParticipants will get an introduction to the art of cross stitch through viewing original work by the instructor and learning how to make patterns using online programs. Students will begin a project that can be taken home and completed. \nTuesday April 16\, 2019 – 4pm-5pm – Portrait/Figure Painting with Melanie Norris (Grades 3-8) \nLearn how to paint unique watercolor portraits and figures from photo reference. An emphasis will be placed on realism for the portraits while the figure will be abstracted and expressive. This will be a colorful\, fun approach to figure drawing while learning key skills. \n
