SUMMARY:All Things Appalachia: History of Summer Camps
DESCRIPTION:“History of Summer Camps”\nwith Beth Venable\, Eagle’s Nest Camp Executive Director \nThursday\, August 6\n6-7 pm\nRogow Room \nBeth Venable brings her knowledge from leading summer camps all over the country before beginning her role at Eagle’s Nest in 2024. The program will explore the history of local summer camps\, their impact\, which has led to Transylvania County being part of the largest concentration of summer camps in the nation. \nAll Things Appalachia is a monthly program series at the Transylvania County Library exploring the people\, natural world\, culture\, and history of the southern Appalachian region.  Presenters include experts in the fields of history\, ecology\, outdoor recreation\, and more. \nThe programs are on the first Thursday evening of most months at 6:00 pm in the Rogow Room.  Each program lasts approximately one hour. These free programs are supported by the Friends of the Library.
