DESCRIPTION:Documentary and Discussion on Early WNC Photographer George Masa\nThursday\, December 5\n6-8 pm   *longer program time to view entire film*\nRogow Room \nThe program will begin with a screening of the 2002 Bonesteel Films production\, “The Mystery of George Masa” (approximately 1 1/2 hours)\, followed by a discussion with Angelyn Whitmeyer\, creator of the George Masa Photo Database. \nGeorge Masa was a WNC photographer who immigrated to Asheville from Japan in 1915. His photos left a legacy that helped to document and led to the creation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. \nAngelyn Whitmeyer is a researcher who compiled the George Masa Photo Database collection of his photos after realizing how many had been “lost” or unidentified.
