SUMMARY:100 Years After the 19th Amendment - A Traveling Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Transylvania County Library is proud to play host to a special traveling exhibit. “100 Years After the 19th Amendment: Their Legacy\, and Our Future”. The exhibit is a project of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Law Library of Congress and was curated by staff at the Library of Congress.  The exhibit celebrates the 100th anniversary of the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment with historic photos and artifacts as well as details about the story of the battle for ratification and its influence on subsequent movements related to equal rights. The 19th Amendment became law in August 1920. The six-panel exhibit will be on display during Library hours from Monday\, August 16th through Saturday\, August 28th on the first floor of the Library.   The American Bar Association committee launched the 19th Amendment traveling exhibit at its 2019 Annual Meeting.  It has since been traversing the country and will eventually visit each of the 50 states. The Transylvania County Library is the exhibit’s only visit to North Carolina. \nThe traveling exhibit is made possible by the Friends of the Library.  Proceeds from Friends’ memberships and from book sales help enhance and support library services by underwriting interesting and entertaining events for all ages.  Won’t you be a Friend?
