The Transylvania County Library welcomes suggestions of books, DVDs and CDs to be added to the Library’s collection. The Library cannot purchase all suggested material. Consideration is based on the Library’s Materials Selection Policy and current budgetary constraints. If you are the first to suggest a book and the item is purchased, it will be placed on hold for you and you will be notified when the item is available for checkout. Holds cannot be placed on DVD suggestions. Acquiring an item generally takes several weeks. You may make your suggestion in person to any staff member at the Library, or you may call us at 884-3151 ext 4, or use the links below to make a suggestion online. Purchase Suggestion Form – To suggest books, DVDs or sound recordings you think the library should own, please fill out a Purchase Suggestion Form. Interlibrary Loan Form – For material that the Transylvania County Library is not able to purchase, Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service is available. ILL services are available for Transylvania County Library cardholders in good standing. There is a small fee (postage one way) for materials — normally $2.50 to $5.00. This fee is due when the item is picked up at the Circulation Desk. For journal articles, please include in your ILL request how much you are willing to pay in photocopying fees in order to receive the material. These fees are charged by the lending library. As a general rule, articles from academic institutions will cost $10.00 to $20.00. PLEASE NOTE: ILL is only available for items not owned by the Transylvania County Library. Books published within the last 12 months are not available through interlibrary loan.
