The Transylvania County Library Foundation was established in 1943 to manage and direct endowments, gifts, and donations to the Transylvania County Library. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization with a twelve-member Board of Directors. The Foundation established a Building Fund in 1994 and has been the driving force behind fund-raising for the new library building.

Meetings are on the third Thursday of every other month. The Foundation Board meets at 3:30 p.m. followed immediately by the Board of Trustees.
