Hobey Ford’s Golden Rod Puppets presents Sea Song
Hobey Ford’s production of Sea Song is in the non-verbal, musical style of Animalia. It is about the interactions of animals who live in the world where the land and sea meet. Sea Song will focus on beach ecology, highlighting the life cyles of the sea turtle and also featuring terns, herons, sandpipers and other sea creatures. Sea Song also includes a parallel story of a young boy who goes to the beach to visit his naturalist grandmother, where he begins to discover and respect the natural world, especially the sea turtle. Most of the puppets will be Hobey’s rod “Foamie” puppets and there will be some shadow puppetry work. The production is set to the music of David Kukhermann’s Hang drum – music that is steel drum in sound but played with the hands.
